Bullard International does NOT support the 2012 ICRBE in High Point, NC.--and will not support any future event sponsored by Tom Kirkman of RodMaker Magazine. Yes, our good name is still being used to promote a show that we will never again attend. Why are my comments being used for the second year in a row to promote and endorse this show when I have asked to have them removed? Mr. Kirkman, the host of this show, ordered us to have an attorney make him remove our name from this venue--we did and he still refuses. This is all apparently a game to him. I see this in very black and white terms. If you are of good character and have a good moral foundation on which you were raised, you do the right thing in life. Either Mr. Kirkman has neither, or he has miserably failed those who raised him, or he simply has one self serving agenda which leaves no room for good character. This is all so disheartening to see such arrogance and disregard for others who are respected in this industry. Please go to my website to see the latest update about this situation and a man who holds himself out to be a person of dignity and respect in our industry. http://www.diamond-ii.com/index7.html

Potato, potahto, Let's call the whole thing off? Oh, I don’t think so!! Update on the break-in of our room while in High Point, February, 2010. Oh yes, I did say that our room was broken into –High Point, North Carolina Best Western is well aware of that, and so is the author of the megalomaniac blog or the “MB” as I call it, who accused me of lying. When I have been a victim of a crime and someone I had done business with calls that a “myth”, not only are they calling me a liar but they are also being unprofessional and disrespectful on a gross scale—especially after we had made a very long trip and spent a lot of money to attend the event he was hosting. I would like to say that some of the folks at High Point Best Western have been very nice, but…when it comes to those in charge—‘Houston, we have a problem.’ The manager there has refused to give me a copy of the incident report of the break in, which they responded to during my stay there for an event during February of 2010. I have explained until I am blue in the face to these people that I am not after money and that I am not going to file a claim for insurance against their hotel—I just want the incident report that their hotel made the night of the break in. Still after all this time no report. So what do they do? They turn it over to their insurance company. How bizarre is that? What’s going on here? They turn my request over to their insurance company when I make it perfectly clear that I am not filing a claim. Oh, and then they tell me to file a report with the High Point Police Department (which I now have). Where was that advice the night our room had been broken into? I explained to the manager at Best Western that I had a forum and would be filling in potential customers on how they handle those who stay in their hotel. I have attached an audio file from the Best Western High Point insurance representative to dispel the “myth” comment that has been posted on the MB. On the audio file the representative makes clear and direct reference to the “incident report” that was made out by the Best Western employees that evening after the break-in. So much for any honest person claiming it was a “myth” that my room was broken into. The High Point Police Department should have been called immediately that night, but we were upset and thought we had done the right thing when we called the hotel’s front desk and they sent who we were told was their house detective. The host to the event (and author of the MB) does this show each year and shame on him for not giving us the good advice of calling the police department. The police told me today that if we had called them they could have finger printed the room, but as it stands now little to nothing can be done. Why didn’t the event host give us the same good sound advice most anyone would after a break in at an event they sponsored? Call the police!! That is exactly what should have happened as to the rods that were stolen in the event showplace—call the police!! If this happens to you and you are away from home, don’t let that keep you from reacting just as you would if it had been your own home! Lesson learned for us. If the shoe were on the other foot and I had put an event together knowing that people would most likely have to shell out thousands of dollars to participate, I know I would have a real sense of responsibility about what happened to them while they were there. Would I actually be responsible….legally? No, or at least I don’t think so, but wow what a statement about one’s moral compass and how a person does business when he feels no obligation at all to his attendees—instead of being honest about a situation that could have put us in harm’s way. He chooses to make jokes or divert the subject by trying to make others believe I am making up a fantasy. That way of thinking is very foreign to me—thank goodness. If it had been an event I put together I would rather admit that there are problems with how I am doing something rather than sacrifice an innocent victim of a crime, all in the name of making a dollar. A “myth” really? Seriously? Funny guy, that event promoter. Oh, and the question I have been asked over and over privately after writing the blog that seemed to get under the skin of the author of the MB: “Silvia, how much money did you make at the show in High Point—forgetting all expenditures, how much did Bullard make that weekend?” The answer: Our company made Nada, Nothing, ZIP—yep, Zero. No one paid us a red cent for any product we brought to that event. We were there promoting our products and helping the dealers that sell our products, but we sold nothing. I can’t say what the dealers made that weekend from our products, but I can honestly say that we never saw a dime from any of it—we have yet to collect a dime. But, this is what I was trying to explain in the first blog about trade shows—you really aren’t going to make a bundle of money anyway. We didn’t expect that and were realistic about it. But—we also didn’t expect to have our room ransacked either. Okay, did the promoter of the event know about our room being broken into? Of course he did, we sat down to dinner with him (running late because of it) after finishing with the hotel ‘detective.’ Oh Lord, and please don’t hold me to that name for those who do security for the hotel. I really don’t want any more sarcastic jabs about how it is a “myth” because I don’t get the name of the man’s position title correct. Wow, if it were true that situations don’t happen unless you get a person’s title correct then I know a lot of people who would be able to say that there were no “flight attendant’s” on board the plane during their trip….only because someone called them “stewardesses” instead. Again, consider the source, folks. Why would someone go to the trouble to detract from a crime that they know happened to a rod show participant personally—and make it appear as though it were all fantasy, when it was all too real? Where I come from, you man up and stand behind what you represent. Being a woman, I am really getting tired of being the ‘bigger man’ between the MB author and myself. As you all will recall he STILL uses our good name to promote an event that we do not support and we have asked him over and over to remove our name from his website. He told us to go get an attorney, and we did. We went to the expense of retaining an attorney in North Carolina and months later what is the result? Well, he tells us to butt a stump and sue him. Now isn’t that sweet? Again, folks, watch very carefully how people do business. So why respond at all to any of this? Well, simple—because he has told a lie about me or more accurately he has called me a liar, and those who know him, know me—I don’t have to say his name. For those who read this blog and know all that of which I speak then they know exactly who I am talking about. For those who do not, then pass this up. It will be of no interest to you! If you are extremely lucky you won’t ever have to deal with any of this in your lifetime. Silvia sig.jpg
