When you become a member of the Custom Rod Builders Guild, you have become part of the professional association for rod builders and rod makers. The Guild is the group that has been working to advance the craft of custom rod building and rod making for several decades, helping to spread the craft and to keep alive the lessons of the past. Within the Guild you have the opportunity to learn from some of the masters of the craft, and to share your gifts with others.
The Guild hosts several gatherings for builders around the U.S. each year. The events are open to all Guild members and are wonderful opportunities to meet other builders that you have read about or with whom you have exchanged emails and phone calls.
The Guild offers rodbuilders the chance to give back the gifts we have received and help young people in our communities. The Guild’s“Pass It On—Outdoor Mentors” program is their joint effort with Big Brothers Big Sisters to teach rod building to the next generation of young people. With the kind gifts of components from many vendors, they are keeping our craft alive and keeping young people on the right path.
The RodCrafters Journal is the journal of the Guild, and is abenefit included in your membership. The Journal is published several times per year, and contains fascinating stories and photographs of the work of someof the finest rod masters in the world. Here they share their techniques and pictures of their extraordinary work. Often you see tutorials on how anew improvement in the craft is being done. The Journal is the oldest journal or magazine for the rod building industry, having been published continuously since 1975.
